Author Louisa Xu wanted to share with others a well-kept secret about cuisines that her family cooks from one generation to another generation. It is, for this reason, she releases “Xu’s Family Cookbook” (published by Partridge Singapore).
This cookbook includes cuisines of Eastern and Western flavours. Many of them belong to Chinese cuisines as most of Xu’s family members are from China. With time passing by, her family members also immigrated to different countries and their diet has changed quite a bit and they no longer have these cuisines. Xu herself concludes many cuisines from her hometown and mix them with her living experience in the U.S.
“This book shows readers the procedures in preparing and cooking different cuisines from my family. It shows various cooking styles from different parts of the world. Cooking has been a part of our family’s tradition for a long time,” said Xu.
When asked what she wants readers to take away from the book, Xu answers, “That they will learn to appreciate and enjoy a showcase of my family’s sumptuous cuisine inspired by Eastern and Western flavours.”

Louisa Xu is from Shanghai, China. She immigrated to the U.S. in her 20s. She graduated from Shanghai Normal University and East China Normal University. She also studied at Montclair State University and New York University. She has work experience in the leisure and tourism industry, financial service industry and legal industry in the United States. She has completed five books which are “City and Education,” “The Landscape of USA,” “New York City,” “Curve” and “Xu’s Family Cookbook.”
