Thistle Johor Bahru (Thistle) and team had recently organised a get-together for Chinese New Year celebration with the metres-long of Yee Sang, tossed together with partners and personnel that have been working hand-in-hand with the oldest hotel on top of the hill of Johor Bahru, overlooking the Straits of Tebrau.
Festive mood could be felt throughout the hall down to the Fresh Restaurant where the Citarasa Nusantara Buffet Lunch was dished out to be feasted on round tables, mimicking reunion dinner on CNY’s eve. Rolling in the abundance of prosperity, Thistle’s Fresh Restaurant readied endless choice of hybrid cuisines hailing from Nusantara region or known better as Southeast Asian’s food from Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, and Singapore that has great influence of Indian, Malay and Chinese cuisines.
Greet Rojak buah and Gado-gado, besides choices of Kerabu and Javanese salad known as ‘Urep’ that has generous coconut gratings that is perfect as appetisers although the locals love them as a side dish with piping hot white rice. Proceed further to the verandah and follow the smell of Ayam Goreng Priangan, fried fresh just for you. Make a bee line and grab a mini vase of mutton dish – Kambing Tempayan that’s bursting with flavours. Want something light? Lempeng and some glutinous Javanese rice are your best bet but remember to pick some dips or lathers with sambal of different kinds. Don’t forget to end your meal with deserts.
